Twitter reacts to 1 million U.S. solar installations

The U.S. has hit 1 million solar installations, an incredible achievement that was celebrated last week with the Million Solar Strong movement.

Put on by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), during the week of May 3rd, solar advocates and allies across the country, including Aztec Solar, celebrated this achievement by hosting events and generating buzz on traditional and social media.

Here are some amazing stats about solar:

The U.S. solar industry produced 209,000 jobs nationwide in 2015, compared to 17,000 in 2006.

Solar created 1 in 83 of all new U.S. jobs last year.

Of the one million solar installations in the U.S., 942,000 are residential, 56,500 are commercial and 1,500 are utility.

It is expected that there will be 1 million solar projects annually by 2025.

One million solar installations is enough electricity to supply all of Pennsylvania.

One million solar installations helps offset 34 million metric tons of CO2 annually.

Over 942,000 homeowners are producing their own power.
