California sets goal to be pulling 100 percent of its electricity from solar, wind by 2045

California continues to lead the way in utilizing renewable energy sources for its electrical needs.

Gov. Jerry Brown has signed legislation that sets the goal for California to pull all of its electricity from clean energy (zero-carbon) by 2045.

The bill, known as the 100 Percent Clean Energy Act, requires public utility companies to set goals for minimum requirements for renewable energy sources (solar and wind) by that year. The bill also bumps up the previous state goal of 50 percent electricity use from renewable energy sources from 2026, to 60 percent by 2030.
