NASA spacecraft uses solar power to take selfie on Mars

NASA, after years of preparation, landed a spacecraft on Mars last week known as InSight.

It is quite the accomplishment, and making it even more interesting is the fact that it has taken a selfie using solar power. The craft has two solar panels on it that are seven-feet wide that produce enough energy on a clear day to produce 600 to 700 watts of energy.

InSight used this energy to take a selfie last week. The main goal of the energy is to recharge its batteries, but several photos will also be taken to help figure out where additional instruments can be placed on the surface of Mars.

If solar energy is helping spacecrafts take selfies on Mars, imagine what it could do for your home. Solar energy is a way to reduce your electric bill and help the environment at the same time. If you go with Aztec Solar, like so many others in the Sacramento region have, you will get quality products, customer service, and installation.
