From increasing the efficiency of buildings, installing solar panels and exploring new technologies that will power our homes, businesses and vehicles in the years and decades ahead, workers in this field – much like the planet – have a bright future. And it’s all thanks to clean energy.
The prospects of jobs in this growing sector, coupled with the benefits of clean and alternative energy, bring us to this point of recognition. The Solar Energy Industries Association is working hard to shine a light on all the men and women in this field.
#CleanEnergyJobs, a one-day social media campaign on Feb. 22, will highlight decades of innovation and progress, which could not have been possible without the individuals who have dedicated their careers to clean energy. #CleanEnergyJobs is also about educating people on emerging green technologies and celebrating what’s next.
This field supports a wide range of workers including engineers, construction workers, installers, maintenance crews, manufactures, sales representatives and IT employees. Here are some numbers:
- 2 million workers are helping families and businesses save money by making buildings efficient.
- More than 600,000 workers focus on clean power generation, including wind and solar.
- 100,000 workers specialize in advance energy storage and power grid technologies.
- 100,000 individuals are exploring the technologies and usefulness of biofuels.
- Clean transportation, like hybrid, electric and fuel cell cars provides employment to more than 200,000 workers.
These good-paying jobs are made possible by the growth of markets for clean energy products and services, including solar.
