The renewable energy sector continues to soar.
A new report from EDF Climate Corps, in fact, recently stated that “Solar and wind jobs have grown at rates of about 20 percent annually in recent years and are each creating jobs at a rate 12 times faster than that of the rest of the U.S. economy.”
The job creation largely stems from the installation, maintenance and construction elements and, according to EDF, the average wages for these jobs are nearly $5,000 higher than the national median. Wages for those employed in the solar sector are $17.04 per hour higher than the national median. California had one of the highest solar jobs distribution in the country.
The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) also recently announced that that solar installations drove 60 percent of the new electric generating capacity additions in the third quarter of 2016, which is a new record.
